CloudPATH delivers connectivity
Overall Satisfaction with CloudPATH
We use CloudPATH as our wireless enrollment management platform at our corporate office. We are not deploying it on other sites at this time. We needed a way to manage domain-joined and and non-domain devices on our business and guest networks and connect devices to the authorized users of those devices. CloudPATH provided a solution that met our needs.
Pros
- Self-service certificated enrollment process allows authorized users to authenticate and join the network.
- We deploy multiple enrollment paths and scenarios based on the user and the device specifications.
Cons
- Enrollment for some mobile device platforms has been a constant struggle.
- OS platform restriction is only possible via certificated enrollment process.
- We have improved auditing of users accessing the network and on what devices.
- We have greater control over access to our network, including the ability to restrict access during non-business hours.
The pricing was better for us and that was our deciding factor in making the decision to go with CloudPATH. We did test both solutions in our pilot environment and while we liked the features of the Cisco solution and deploy other Cisco solutions and products the pricing was a significant factor in our decision process.

Using CloudPATH
Our US headquarters staff connects daily to our WiFi via cloudpath assigned enrollments and our constant flow of visitors must connect through a cloudpath enrollment pathway. Our visitors are organization staff from around the world, consultants, business partners, and volunteer employees. Also, as a non-profit organization we have regular visitors to our office who wish to learn more about our organization. Finally, we have a conference facility which hosts internal and external group events and all WiFi is provided through managed cloudpath enrollment pathways.
We have one cloudpath network administrator who does all troubleshooting and pathway development and updating. We have one helpdesk administrator who assigns all visiting users their enrollments. We have our on site IT support staff who can assist users during the cloudpath onboarding process should they need it or have a device that experiences issues.
The Network administrator must understand the product and the network configuration and organization goals. The assigning vouchers for enrollment can be done by anyone - it is a great role for the receptionist. The user interface (UI) is easy to use and collecting information and assigning enrollment details is quick and easy.
Tier 1 IT support staff are needed to provide assistance during enrollment; knowledge of certificate based deployments is needed for some enrollment pathways.

- Prevent unauthorized access to wifi
- Maintain an audit of Wifi users
- the audit information has provided us with greater insight to the types of visitors to our site
- We have learned alot about the types of devices our visitors and staff prefer to use
- We would like to be able to empower our departments to enroll their own visitors and support their own visitors on the enrollment process, essentially empowering our entire staff to manage the WiFi and take ownership for who uses it and why.
