From an employee's standpoint, Concur saves time, provides flexibility
Overall Satisfaction with Concur Travel and Expense
We use Concur Travel and Expense to manage all of our work related expenses, especially as it relates to purchasing cards. I can use my Pcard to make any relevant purchases, and then they are automatically added to Concur. I then use Concur Travel and Expense to substantiate expenses, add receipts, and apply them to the correct accounts. We also use Concur to purchase plane tickets and book hotels.
Pros
- Connecting receipts to the purchases you've made.
- Integrating with purchasing cards.
Cons
- I wish it were easier to find my specific accounts in the system. It would be nice if I could name them rather than remember the long account numbers.
- I think booking travel on Concur Travel and Expense is not easy. I wish I could see alternative flights easier and not just the ones the app recommends.
- I think Concur Travel and Expense is what allows me to have a Pcard as someone who is not involved in purchasing or finance, and I like that.
- My company has been requiring us to use Concur more and more so I think it's designed to save our company money.
I haven't really tried any alternatives. I wonder if the credit card companies web app would be able to do most of what Concur Travel and Expense does, but I think the application to specific accounts would have to happen at my business. I would prefer to use other travel applications such as Travelocity or Expedia to book travel.
I'm not aware of any other ERP systems. Sorry.
I really like the iPhone app. I think that is an innovation because especially when I'm traveling I don't always have access to my computer. I really like that the purchases I made with my Pcard are automatically added to Concur Travel and Expense as well. I just have to create a report and then add the expenses to it. I like that I can scan and add receipts without having to give them to anyone else. Attaching printed copies was a pain in the neck.
I can only speak from personal experience, but it has really helped me manage my own travel and purchase expenses. I used to rely on our office finance person, which, even though she was really nice, was a hassle. I think it also gives me more flexibility with my accounts and grant money. I can spend my accounts pretty much however I want and use a Pcard rather than having to get a reimbursement because I can easily substantiate expenses and apply them to the correct accounts in Concur Travel and Expense.

This is hard to answer because I just fill out the reports. I don't see how the ultimate outcomes. I have found Concur effective for me to document my travel and any related expenses. I like that I can keep track of what I've done as well. I've used previous reports of the same conferences a couple of times and just changed the dates because everything was the same. I also like that a P card expense is automatically added in Concur. I wish it would autocreate reports from them.

Yes - It works really well, especially for scanning receipts. I like the interface and the app a lot. I just wish it had a few extra functions such as tracking my exact mileage or including more of my travel itineraries, but I'm confident the company will add additional functionality in future updates.
