Overall Satisfaction with CrashPlan

We used CrashPlan across the whole organization as, well, a "crash plan"! We needed a backup solution and disaster plan for our users. Previously we had a range of solutions that were either client specific and not comprehensive, or hard to manage. CrashPlan gave us one solution for all clients, that solved our issues when thefts or system crashes occurred.

  • Works when you need it most!
  • It isn't free!
  • New releases are slow.
  • Upgrades are not always flawless.
  • Increased security.
  • Less "touch" for our IT dept.
  • Combined budget for solutions.
I have only evaluated local backup/network storage products and Dropbox. CrashPlan is far and away superior to these. It's more reliable. It scales easily, and the management doesn't kill you. Neither do the finance folks for that matter!
I think it's particularly well suited for the enterprise environment or higher ed, where you have a range of clients/users and you need something to address them all. Easy deployment and management is key. CrashPlan just works. When you need it most and your situation is dire, CrashPlan is there!
