Overall Satisfaction with DBArtisan
Within the Developers, DBArtisan is used primarily as a database IDE and to manage the database's infrastructure. There are plenty of good free IDE alternatives, our favorite is SQuirreL, but its ability to manipulate db devices, monitor logs, manage elements like triggers, and much more make it worth the investment for us. This tool gives you a familiar front into most your database's inner workings.
- IDE
- DB Management
- Locks up far too often
- Licensing structure is expensive
- While it is expensive, it saves us a great deal of time in getting a lot of DB work done.
- The front end is reasonably powerful and significantly more polished than any of the free alternatives
SQuirreL isn't showing up in the search results ... that is our favorite free alternative. Very powerful IDE, very easy to use.
Oracle SQL Developer is just a very basic front end. Free, simple, works, but in a different league from DBArtisan.
I recently tried IntelliJ. I wasn't too much a fan, so I stuck with DBArtisan.
