Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In my organization, DigitalOcean is primarily used to create droplets and databases. DigitalOcean is an excellent choice for early startups as they can deploy their infrastructure at lower cost compared to the relatively bigger cloud providers. We have also integrated our SaaS application as a DigitalOcean marketplace Add-On. This helps our application business by serving as a channel for acquiring new customers.

It satisfies the needs of its target segment which is application developers and small teams working in startups. It simplifies configuration of cloud infrastructure. It is cost effective. It is easy to integrate and list as an Add On on DigitalOcean marketplace. It is easy to integrate as an OAuth application for seeking permission from user before using the credentials to perform necessary tasks for the user.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) and Google Cloud Platform

The target segment of DigitalOcean is application developers and small teams working in startups for easily configuring and deploying infrastructure in the cloud. We selected DigitalOcean for some of our usecases as it is cost effective and easy to integrate with compared to bigger cloud providers such as AWS and Google Cloud.

As DigitalOcean is cost effective, it is an excellent choice for individual application developers and / or small teams working in early startups to deploy their infrastructure in the cloud. It is also easy to host a SaaS application on DigitalOcean marketplace. If fine grained role based access control is a must then you are better off going with the bigger cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud.
