Overall Satisfaction with Discord
We use Discord as a community building and information dispersal tool. We have different channels for different projects and allow those members to view most channels when they join to encourage community growth across the board.
In addition to the open channels we have gated channels where one needs to authenticate and prove they are a project stakeholder in order to view and participate. These are our top tier members of the community who have invested in our projects and they get the most attention from our staff members.

Pros
- One to many Communications to ensure that we can quickly get messages out when we have to.
- Quick polling of questions and issues
- The ability to gate channels so we can focus on folks that we know are stakeholders gives them an added feeling of belonging and that they have a say in the direction of projects.
Cons
- Their Nitro upgrade option allows for people to mimic other uses which negatively impacts projects
- I think they need to come up with a better server pricing - having to buy 13 upgrades is ridiculous.
- Bots really need to be vetted because some can be quite menacing.
- The ability to hold names that are changed to prevent scammers from setting up shop under your old name when you change names.
- Depends upon the industry. Gaming, Digital, etc would have a huge impact on ROI
- Financial, security etc... probably doesn't have as good of a return.
- Discord should be part of an overall strategy not a single one.
We used to use Telegram which is great for discussions and one to many communications but it doesn't have the ability to segregate different topics unless you start a brand new channel. Unfortunately it is then very difficult to keep those topics under the same umbrella to allow people to flow to different topics for discussion.
