Overall Satisfaction with Discord

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We replaced Slack by moving over to Discord. It works pretty much the same way but without the limitations that Slack imposes on small businesses. We're a small team/business and didn't need or want to incur more expenses with our internal chat/messaging tech stack. We've switched to Discord for a few years now and haven't looked back.

For some reason, the API connection doesn't always work consistently

It's free and is the better option vs Slack

Usability

It seems overwhelming at first for new users, but otherwise it's easy to get setup and started for most users.
It can get "noisy" with the notifications and not always intuitive to control what and how often you get notifications from specific servers.
It's great to have an API to integrate with other apps but it doesn't always work consistently.

Alternatives Considered

Slack, Telegram and WhatsApp Business

For small businesses, Discord by far works the same with less limitations compared to Slack. I understand Slack is built for enterprise-level companies, but for small businesses, Discord works better than Slack and Telegram.
Telegram didn't really allow for specific channels/topics within a server and results in a massive thread instead of having specific channels like Slack does.

Likelihood to Recommend

For small businesses that may not need or require specific enterprise-level data/privacy controls, Discord is more than adequate to meet internal messaging functions.
Discord can get quite "noisy" at times and controlling the notifications from various servers can be tiresome, but overall, it meets our needs and doesn't have the limitations Slack imposes on the free tier.
