Overall Satisfaction with Dovetail

I use it to upload, store and analyse use interviews. I use the tagging system as well, and my team and I try to update it constantly and use it in the same way across organisation. Automatic transcription and translation is also commonly used

It helped by saving time when it comes to transcription. The highlight and tag recommendations are only useful to a certain extent (60% of the time ) while the ai search is still so inaccurate, that it’s better if I don’t use it at all, rather than get wrong information. Many times I have to ask the same questions so the ai chat provides my with enough information that it completely skipped the other times.
The use of Dovetail has absolutely helped my teams (close and broader ones) align better and use the same guidelines and rules in data analysis. Some automations that it offers, like the transcription, saves valuable time and allows everyone to work on more important and/ or urgent tasks. Beads the analysis, Dovetail has offered my team the opportunity to create and share more cohesive and engaging reports within the company, as well as with other stakeholders.
I am generally very happy with Dovetail as a product, but I cannot help to mention a negative experience last fall - this is also the reason I take out 3 points (thus 7 out of 10 in rating). A team member accidentally deleted a whole workspace field and there wa nothing we could do to bring back the lost information that affected more than 150 projects. We had to communicate with support and engineers, that literally live and work in timezones far ahead of us. I would love to have the option to undo some actions without the need to contact and rely on your company’s engineers!
I have not used any other products, tools or services, even though colleagues and people online suggest better in their opinion services and products. My companies always chose Dovetail and I have no power of opinion this matter. I am not sure which other tool I would choose instead, though.

Not well suited for long term research projects, where the user must find older interviews and compare them to newer ones - especially if the tagging is not consistent (different cases, interviewers , etc)

Serves well as an easy and accessible research database, with incredibly fast and accurate transcriptions. It’s very good for short end projects, with interviews that follow the same script and tagging is consistent.

Using Dovetail

1 - My colleague is a person with long technical knowledge, who set up Dovetail as we currently use it. The skills required are not too important, but being tech-savvy is incredibly helpful, especially when accidents happen. Practice makes perfect, as well as attention to drtail ans reading many how-to manuals, at lease thisis what our colleague does.
