Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

We use DraftSight across multiple departments in our company. Compared with AutoCAD it's cheaper and does everything and more that we require it to. We use it from mechanical design to electrical schematic design. Having previously used other products for this purpose, DraftSight is as good as any, and cost comparison cannot be outweighed. We use both 2d and 3d versions depending on what we are trying to achieve. We haven't found any real issues with DraftSight in terms of what we try to achieve.
  • Cost is a benefit
  • Has all standard functionality expected
  • As good as the main competition
  • Both 3D and 2D function as expected
  • Great CAD package for the annual cost
  • We used it before you had to pay for it, but the small annual fee does not out warrant it
  • If you are looking for online examples of how to draw something specific, it is easier to find AutoCAD examples
  • Better documentation on how to use tools. Video tutorials would be beneficial
  • Tool bars not as easy to set-up as other packages
  • Leader lines and multileaders are not as easy as AutoCAD
  • Budget of using DraftSight versus other available packages. Really can't beat the cost.
The functionality is basically the same at a hugely reduced cost. Once you move over to Draftsight and you find where the tools are you need then you will find that it stacks up extremely well vs AutoCAD, no complaints!
For what we do (draw schematics etc.) it works really well. It is well suited to our environment without breaking the bank. I don't think I would ever move back to AutoCAD after the price difference having now used DraftSight for a couple of years.
