Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

It is used by my Engineering Dept. As it is a CAD software package it does not address any business problems rather it is used to create 2D CAD drawings.
  • 2D drawings
  • Cable, Harness drawings
  • Automation Controls drawings
  • Subscription is too expensive
  • Perpetual license is locked to a network, thus limiting remote access
  • Future versions should include use of macros
  • The move to an expensive paid subscription has us looking for other cost effective options.
I have used Autocad and Nanocad. Draftsight appears to be a near clone of those software packages however Draftsight does not seem to offer the option to create Macros.
Software is good for 2D drawing for cables, automation control drawings, and wiring and assembly drawings. It is less suited for 3D drawings and assemblies as that would be better served through Solid Works.
