Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

It is used to design vise jaws and other types of tooling that are machined to hold other machined components.

Pros

  • Extremely fast
  • Very affordable
  • Consistent User Interface

Cons

  • Quicker access to printer template sizes
  • Consumes WAY too much RAM if opening/closing many files
  • Default set to not show News, it still shows News though
  • Not directly related in our company
The ability to use commands makes DraftSight far faster than anything else I've ever used.
It is extremely fast at 2D drawings. Tricky to use in 3D, and new users have a long learning curve to memorize the commands. The Commands are fantastic, always learning new commands to solve rare problems even after using DraftSight (and previously AutoCAD) for a combined 15 years.
