[DraftSight] is used by me as an individual to engineer and design for our product.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Robust
  • Easy to use

Cons

  • Some commands from AutoCAD don't work
  • Can't draw a line at a specific angle
  • Randomly crashes
  • Collaborate on drawings with customers
  • Collaborate on drawings with suppliers
It is well suited for individuals who use autocad but don't have the budget for it. It is great for design work and creating 2d files to send for laser cutting and creating drawings.
It is less suited for complex designs and creating 3d parts.
