Overall Satisfaction with DraftSight

DraftSight is being used for our engineering and production drawings, for some little electrical drawings too. I'm the only one to use it, but our engineering department is growing [...], our production department too, and we will probably need more licenses eventually. DraftSight fills a lack of drawings that existed before I joined the team.
  • Engineering drawings
  • Production drawings
  • Electrical drawings
  • Being able to write an equation (ex. 8*12) instead of just a value while sketching
  • Being able to exit from a block by pressing Esc twice
  • Having a dark theme for the UI
  • Sketching
  • Visualization
  • Validation
  • Budget planification
  • Save on drawings for laser cutting
  • Less time needed for final draft
DraftSight is way less expensive for my needs and more user friendly to use. I had an easier time [learning] DraftSight instead of AutoCAD. Some functionalities are easier to use on DraftSight than its competitor.

Foxit PDF SDK, Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), FreeCAD
It is well suited for every need in mechanical drawings and machine layouts, such as new machine design or machine rebuilding process. [It] can be useful in the process of reverse engineering old equipment. It is less appropriate for electrical drawings. 2D drawings from online databases lack in content (way more adapted for 3D than 2D).
