Overall Satisfaction with Druva inSync

Our company has very distributed assets at over a 100 locations. As we are governed by HIPAA, our devices that contain ePHI data must be backed up. Only devices at locations with servers get backed up, which requires us to utilize a remote solution for all others. This is where Druva came in - it allows us to backup our remote devices without the need for any on-prem hardware. Druva allows us to easily deploy their agent from a msi package, offers AD integration, easy-to-use policy management, and a clean and intuitive dashboard.

We are currently not utilizing any unified data protection from cloud apps.
We had a few employees storing ePHI data that they were not allowed to access. Druva proactively alerted us and we were able to remove the data from the device from the cloud console. Druva made it easy for us to implement using their pre-built compliance templates that focused on HIPAA.
We currently have not fully implemented and/or tested this feature.
  • Carbonite Safe (formerly Mozy)
We were on Mozy Pro before they were bought out by Carbonite. Being a non-profit, we were able to get pretty pricing through Druva, which was our #1 determining factor for purchasing a solution.
Implementation was very straight-forward. We created policies in the Druva console, configured the AD/LDAP connector and pushed the msi installed out with SCCM. We did not run into any major roadblocks and the whole process was incredibly seamless. We were able to completely finish our deployment in less than a week.

Druva has met our needs of backing up assets at remote locations and is where I believe it is best suited. The audit trail, DLP, legal hold and compliance governance options were also a key factor in our decision. If you're company has assets at datacenter locations, maybe a local backup solution would be a better fit.

COVID-19 Changes

Druva has enabled us to protect and backup remote assets during the transition to working from home. This has allowed us to keep in line with our HIPAA policies and compliance.
