Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Dynatrace for all of our monitoring solutions across our whole organization. We implemented Dynatrace in a hybrid fashion. We are heavily using tagging, user sessions and dashboards for monitoring.

Pros and Cons

Pros

We are heavily using dashboards to monitor our environment.
We use RUM data extensively to monitor user sessions and app behaviors.
Synthetic monitoring is an excellent feature which gives us insight into actual app behavior and response time hotspots.
Root cause analysis by Dynatrace AI engine is phenomenal.

Cons

We do not get insight into webMethods JDBC connection stats like we used to do earlier with CA Wily.
We recently got some insight into Kafka metrics but it is very limited at the moment.
It would be nice to split docker container ID. Currently, we are getting a vague container name.

Return on Investment

We have an excellent root cause and alerting mechanism built on top of Dynatrace.
Some of the technologies are still unsupported like WebMethods, Kafka(beta).
RUM data is extremely helpful in monitoring user sessions.
