Overall Satisfaction with e-automate
I use e-Automate for almost EVERYTHING accounting - tracking payables and receivables, paying invoices, invoicing customers, entering credit card payments and receipts, financial statements, customer statements, and reconciling bank accounts. We use it to track equipment sold to customers and manage inventory. About the only thing I do not use it for is tracking labor because we do not charge our labor out to jobs.
Pros
- Sending Invoices out to customers via email or printing.
- Keep track of ordering and inventory.
- Sales Tax reporting.
- Monitoring customer payment activity/setting up and removing credit holds.
- Calculating payments to process each cycle.
- Excellent aging reports.
- I like the fact that when I am looking at one item, such as an invoice, I have the capability to switch to the customer menu rather than having to exit out of invoices and then enter into customers.
- I love the flexibility of the search menus - being able to sort on several factors at once.
Cons
- When there is a long drop-down menu, I often scroll to reach the frequently used fields. I am accustomed to software that allows me to increase the size of the drop-down box.
- It is very confusing to work "backward."When I try to book a non-receivables deposit in the Cashbook, I must enter it as an adverse withdrawal. I do not understand why ALL deposits have to be related to receivables. We have frequent Nnon-receivable deposits.
- Although the export function works beautifully when exporting data into Excel, it doesn't work at all for open-source software. My laptop died last year. I used another employee's backup laptop until my company could get me a new one. This employee hates Microsoft products, so they do not have Excel and Word. Data exports were almost non-existent in this software.
- This is hard for me to answer, as e-Automate was here for several years before I started. However, I think many of the modules work seamlessly - payables, receivables, sales tax reporting, and bank reconciliations. So, I have nothing to compare it to.
I do not work too much with contract management. I do review occasional reporting and I find these reports relatively easy to generate and understand.
I think it is a definite positive. I have only ever worked with comprehensive systems (over a career of several decades), so it is something I expect.
I actually liked Microsoft 365 better than e-automate. The "flaws" that I identified in e-Automate did not exist in Microsoft 365. I did not select e-Automate - the software was selected several years before I started here. E-Automate does a few things better than Microsoft Dynamics - Bank Account Reconciliations and Sales Tax reporting are 2 that stand out.
