Overall Satisfaction with Epicor Prophet 21
Epicor Prophet 21 is being used throughout the organization to purchase, manage inventory, sales process, and accounting processes. Additional functionality being used is consignment (vending machines), website integration and reporting via Crystal and other third-party programs. We've heavily customized the screens via Dynachange and aim to stay current on all the version releases.
Pros
- P 21 does a great job of managing inventory throughout the purchasing, inventory control and sales processes.
- Having the data accessible in an SQL database has been huge for us, P 21 does a good job of capturing all the transactional data.
- The ability to customize the screens is a big advantage and something we take full advantage of.
Cons
- The built-in CRM is a huge plus, but it could be more robust, it doesn't need to be on par with the other full-blown CRM packages, just close the gap.
- I've been attending the Summit/Insights conferences for 10 years now, over the last few years it's "head-scratching" of how much turn over is occurring in the key management positions, seem to get different priorities each year.
- The move of support to India is a disaster, when putting in a case I cringe - waiting to be asked to provide detailed steps and re-hash details, half the time it seems like I'm training the people on the other end during a Bomgar session. When I do get someone in the U.S. the support has been tremendous and resolved quickly, most of the time the first time around.
Yes, we have benefited by capturing data accurately and by using the inventory management functionality, then additionally we've added outside resources, reporting and processes to analyze in more detail, we manipulate that data to fit our inventory requirements and P 21 makes it easy to pull in those settings for daily processes.
Yes - Infor FACTS
Change management was a minor issue with the implementation - We spent a good year for implementation, learning how P 21 handles the process, comparing to how the previous system handled processes, and then trained on how that would change from what we're currently doing. We did not want to fall into the trap of making P 21 meet our processes, for the most part, we found P 21 was able to address all our processing needs.
We have not used Epicor's storefront for our website, we have two e-commerce channels on two different platforms, one of them is integrated with P 21, the other is not, we are looking to make an investment in this area in the next year but it most likely will not be an Epicor system, primarily due to responsiveness and the level of support we receive with our third-party providers versus our experience with Epicor.
- Better inventory management practices and improvements have allowed us to better manage the management of our biggest asset investment
- Having easy access to data has been a catalyst to help drive revenue growth by giving our inside and outside sales staff the information they need when they need it
- The easy access to data and ability to connect different systems has given us a good ROI by streamlining processes such as vending and other options that help us stay better connected to customers
