Overall Satisfaction with F5 BIG-IP

F5 BIG-IP used across our enterprise as LTM, APM, ASM. We deal with visibility problems into advance analytics not displaying full details of what we need to help troubleshoot with application owners (viprion). Additionally we have issues where we are not able to fully synchronize ASM configuration due to traffic differences between data centers.

Pros

  • Simple Flow modification on VPN configuration
  • reviewing Attack signatures and recommendations for policy changes
  • LTM side we are able to modify and change traffic flow with iRules and allow us to divert from basic options in ltm

Cons

  • F5 could have additional details within ASM Where we have trouble jumping back and forth between security events and what may of triggered the block.
  • at the moment with our current hardware we have still on viprion hardware and will be using it till end of support/eol. Migration from virpion over to Rseries has been simple and easy that we already feel a return on investment with the new hardware
UI is simple and easy to use, modules are broken out on the left and allow for easy movement between them.

as a suite it covers multiple things an enterprise may need to be able to properly defend against attacks or application delivery. These are just the top layer tools that can help across hybrid environments
