Overall Satisfaction with F5 BIG-IP

We use F5 BIG-IP for balancing access to our internal servers to ensure the highest possible uptime and performance. F5 BIG-IP makes it easy to load balance Certificate secured (HTTP) sites as well as non HTTP sites and makes it easy for client access. Client Profiles and server provide make the F5 a solid product to secure your web sites.

Pros

Cons

  • Validating what Profiles are bound to could be easier to get to
  • Finding OS downloads could be more easily searchable
  • BigIP OS vulnerabilities and bug lists should be more easy to find
  • Not sure on ROI, as I am not involved in the budget but technically I spend much less time on these than the netscalers.
  • F5 BIG-IP just works, I can spin up a new LB VIP in no time.
  • Managing the LTM Profiles is easy and a great way to get sites up.
F5 Big-IP has so many awesome features but you dont have to know or even use ll of them to get a VIP up and running. Managing the F5 is easy peasy and statistics are easy to find. At the same time everything on a VIP is easy to get to when you open up the VIP and look through the options. Other competitors make it a bit more complicated.
The F5 BIG-IP interface is so much nicer than the NetScaler, from creating a VIP to applying a certificate the F5 interface is so much nicer.

I like the interface of the F5 BIG-IP much better than the Netscaler interface. It is much easier to navigate and configure than the Netscaler
