Overall Satisfaction with F5 BIG-IP

F5 BIG-IP is used for LTM and GTM

Pros

  • LTM
  • GTM

Cons

  • HA syncing between GTM's and LTM's is not easy to maintain when using self-signed certs. Having to jump to the CLI to grab and sync the self-signed certs between devices seem a bit old school. And certs are updated having to clean-up and redo the process is cumbersome
  • SSL proxy is a great positive impact
From a single node point of view it is fairly easy to manage so long as you understand the requirements. When bringing HA in to the solution it becomes a bit more complex and deeper.
I think the F5 BIG-IP UI is easier to work with and understand. However, the A10 CLI is a bit more comfortable due to its similarity to other products like Cisco and Arista

F5 BIG-IP core capabilities of load balancing and proxying the client connections is stellar.
