Overall Satisfaction with GiveSmart

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used GiveSmart to track and acknowledge donors, pull reports and more. Because the database was so easy and intuitive to use it made that duty so much easier. With GiveSmart writing letters and producing envelopes was a breeze. They also continued to improve their product, which was greatly appreciated.

Pros and Cons

Pros

We really loved the ease of producing letters and envelopes
Their intuitive search feature easily offered up names of constituents even when they were misspelled, saving time.
Everything about the system was set up to be "simple" and it truly is.

Cons

I think that it would be beneficial when creating new letters if the "set up" of the letter was changeable. The font size and the margins often seemed "off". Often while editing letters they "looked fine" but when I printed them they would have odd sentence spacing.
I think it's incredibly hard to get ahold of support, and that is not okay.
I would have liked to be able to change the dashboard to reflect OUR fiscal year, rather than the calendar year.

Return on Investment

It totally improved internal efficiency.
The price was GREAT, which left money being able to be put elsewhere.
I think that it continued to improve on what it had to begin with, but not fast enough for our agency.

Usability

I think it is an amazing product for a smaller non-profit. I am not sure if things have changed a lot in the few months since we've used the system, but all it all I would (AND HAVE) HIGHLY recommended it to other non-profits. It was a huge relief to get out from under another system which was much more complicated and about 10 times the cost. We saved time and money going with GiveSmart for the time we were customers.

Support Rating

When I did have to reach out for support it was not always easy to get ahold of anyone to help. There were also times when I did get help where I struggled to understand and be understood. Not a language barrier, but more of a not understanding what my problem was. I am not sure if it was a problem on my end or on theirs, maybe both, lol.

GiveSmart was well suited to our non-profit organization because it made some of our work much easier, freeing us up to do other important things. I think that the issues I stated about editing the format of the letters made it difficult and time consuming to keep having to redo the letters. Often I would just cut/paste into a Word document rather than keep fooling around trying to figure out what I did wrong.
