We use GiveSmart for our silent auction at our largest event of the year, the Annual Gala. This has helped save time with the auction setup and checkout. We now also use it at our Golf Tournament. It helps with saving time by selling raffle tickets.

GiveSmart is fantastic for non-profits to run events, both in person and virtually. You are able to reach more people with texts and emails, which are super easy to send. The online options allows you to reach more people.
GiveSmart's platform is user friendly overall. We have had a few times when the platform has been down, or extremely slow, which negatively impacted our event and frustrated our users.
The staff at GiveSmart is great to work with. The assistance they provide in getting our events set up is valuable. They are responsive to calls and emails. When we have had in person events, the Event manager and staff have always been amazing!

I use GiveSmart for our Arbor Day of Giving campaign, which is different than Giving Tuesday. Instead of Giving Tuesday, our day of giving is Arbor Day.

Our organization is nonprofit and we use GiveSmart software for the auction fundraising at our annual Gala event. GiveSmart handles the mobile bidding (silent/live auctions, raffle, wine pull, etc), check in and check out, and paddle raises/fund a need at our event. This software has replaced our need for bid sheets and additional staff at registration and has taken away A LOT of the stress of having to manage these functions on our own. Their support staff is very helpful in helping set up your campaign and in running reports post-event.

We have used GiveSmart for both virtual and in-person events, and it has been highly effective. They used to send staff to assist with your events, which was extremely helpful to us, but I'm told that the pandemic has taken away this element from their service offerings. We find the software very easy to use and understand and the reporting is also user-friendly.

We use GiveSmart for live auction, silent auctions, and mission appeals at our golf tournament and galas. At this year's gala, we tried to centralize all of our revenue on the GiveSmart site, so that our guests could access all our content and merchandise on the sidebar of the presentation stream. Since we utilize it exclusively for fundraising, the development team is much more familiar with GiveSmart than the programs team and executives. It makes giving more accessible and helps capture more of the interest in our silent auction items.
  • Simplicity. GiveSmart brings the event to our guests, and I struggle to imagine how we could make it easier for them.
  • Reporting. You can break your revenue down by many parameters.
  • Customizability. We found ourselves able to include a virtual version of most elements of our gala, including the written program.
  • The site is largely customizable, but that reaches its limit in the html/CSS. Your whole site will pull from a style sheet housed elsewhere, and while my html abilities are limited, I suspect that the user cannot override the stylesheet.
  • We asked for a vanity link to some of our sub-pages, but the way GiveSmart works, it generates a unique link for each user so that they can click and be already logged in. So users cannot really generate a print-friendly link to the stream page or the auction page. That became an issue when we wanted to include a hyperlink to our stream on menus included in our deliveries. We opted to include the home page and link from the homepage to the stream, which worked fine.
  • The user cannot edit the tabs along the top of the site.
GiveSmart is good for events over one hundred people at which you expect guests to donate throughout their time there. For us, that includes galas and golf tournaments. These events have multiple revenue streams; GiveSmart grants the opportunity to browse all those ways to give in one place.

We do not utilize GiveSmart for our Walks, which are peer-to-peer affairs. GiveSmart is beginning to create the capacity for peer-to-peer fundraising within its campaigns, but our walk process involves so much management and so many teams that we need a platform that can more seamlessly accommodate all of those in a broader fashion.
To echo points made earlier in this review, this is GiveSmart's competitive advantage. Our donors, who might or might not be technologically savvy, can usually navigate the site with ease from the links texted to their phones. On the backend, usability is a little less seamless, but we can almost always find what we are looking for.
The customer and technical support team is great! This year, we had a question about vanity URLs. While we were not able to do what we had hoped, the team was helpful in connecting us to the people who had a straight answer for us. The onsite staff have always been competent and concerned with our overall fundraising goals.

  • The online bidding for auction items. Having the ability to pre-bid silent auction items, show photos and videos of them has doubled our revenues.
  • During the pandemic, we were able to more easily pivot to virtual events. Their features supported everything we needed for donations and auction items.
  • We have also been able to institute monthly virtual appeals for on-going donations, especially with the ability for donors to make ongoing donations.
  • We have a wide range of sponsors and would like to have the ability to showcase them at the various levels rather than all grouped together with only the distinction of premium or standard.
  • We send tax letters out to all of our participants, donors, etc. Would love the ability to e-mail those letters rather than having to print and mail them.
I would recommend it for the type of fundraising events we hold. It is a complex system and takes some time to figure out. They have an extensive resource section and their on-line help is available 24/7 which makes a huge difference.

GiveSmart was fairly easy to use. It was easy to upload auction item images. I was able to go through the check out process by viewing the tutorials available.
I was able to get the answer to any questions quickly through the live chat feature.

Our organization used The GiveSmart platform in our annual fundraising efforts. We have used them to help host our annual gala— hybrid (online and live), for a couple of years, and strictly online during COVID-19. It is used primarily by 3 or 4 of us to run our silent auction during the event. It also helps with communication during the event. Using GS has created ease in auction bookkeeping, payments, and generating post-event thank you/tax letters.

I find GS to be extremely helpful for our large event, managing over 200 guests and their purchases and donations. We have not used it for smaller events, because it hasn’t seemed worth it due to the fact that our people like to register by mail and directly through the website. I have not found a quick and seamless way to correlate that information, so I have not made that leap. We do hope to utilize the platform this year for the first time to do online peer-to-peer fundraising. I know it is something they do, but we have not used it yet.
GiveSmart has been pretty easy to use, and grows easier every year we use it. Their support is generally pretty good, getting back to us on the same day nearly every time— sometimes in minutes. I like the fact that their follow-up is thorough and that they are always looking to improve, asking for suggestions. As technology becomes more user-friendly, so does their site.
When we have been able to have our event in person, there has always been a GiveSmart representative on-site to help our guests and users to navigate the system. While we were online during Covid, our interactions with them via phone, email, and zoom were seamless. A representative always got back to us within the day. I would recommend GiveSmart to anyone doing a large online event.

We are using it to fundraise for our political organization. We plan to have a marque event every year. It's used by a handful of people in my organization. Since Covid became an issue with in-person fundraising we decided to move to a virtual platform. It was very successful for our first attempt.

  • Intuitive for non technical people to figure out.
  • Uploaded pictures were easy but, figuring out the right format for those pictures was not.
  • When to close out the auction needs better explanation.
  • More choices in designing our brand.
Great for virtual events. Easy to share on social media. Easy to set admin privileges. I would not use it for peer to a peer unless you have a large following already. The flat rate was very attractive for our small organization. The reports were amazing. The reports gave us very useful information that we will refer to for our next event.
As mentioned before, easy to use, great training videos, and excellent customer service. The app was very user-friendly as well. Most people had nothing but positive feedback on the end-user side of the platform. Clear instructions on how to bid for items were clearly explained as well. Even if you had to cancel a bid it was quick and efficient.
Questions were quickly answered. The demo was excellent and explained our options clearly. We had a slight issue with a banking issue but GiveSmart worked with us and it went smoothly. I never had any issues with the support. Highly recommend it, this include phone calls and email messages. I was really appreciative of their quick response to my questions.

We use this platform for event-related fundraising: ticketing, invoicing, raffle, and silent auction features.
  • Creating the tickets is very easy
  • The platform works for both virtual and in-person events
  • The silent auction is easy to set up
  • Text and mobile features are nice for communicating with guests
  • I can't always reach someone immediately for service and have had to leave a message and wait for a callback
  • My personal account rep often takes several days to respond to emails
  • The display page has limited design options in format, font, text size, color, etc.
  • An attendee cannot order themselves if they want to pay by check. An organization should be able to decide if they want to take the risk instead of only allowing the administrator to purchase by check. If our users could choose a check option and we could verify receipt of the check, this would be much better for us.
I recommended it to another small nonprofit and they felt for the price they didn't have enough event support to use the display tools as well as they wanted. I agree it's costly to have an event rep, and right now they won't even come in person. By the time you have a dedicated rep involved you have done 90% of the work yourself and checked in with your general rep. We agreed the support feels lacking - makes it hard to recommend again.
It is fairly straightforward and has many tutorials and videos. It works well for ticketing and events. It has shortfalls in payment features - the lack of accepting user orders paying by check is a lot of work for us. So set up is easy, reports are great, integration for user data and payment options not optimal. Support could be better all-around (call center, rep, and event).
I have had to leave messages for the 24/7 call center when I have an issue or sit and scroll through the help center and sometimes that's fine but other times you just need quick guidance. Rep takes days to respond to emails. Our day of staff we are paying extra for shows up in the last week when 90% of the work is done and I'm not sure where the value is.

Wish when we move into our new database CRM for this info to sync with our Fundly Non-Profit Easy system.
Find it very easy to use except for when you forget your login and trying to bid last minute.
Most of my experience was helpful, but the person sent in person our first year changed everything last minute showing up, and the other items we sold that night were half of what we raised. I was not there to tell her we will not change everything and so impacted our bottom line.

We use GiveSmart to facilitate a major fundraising event and a few additional campaigns throughout the year. GiveSmart is robust in features and allows us to handle ticketing, auction and instant purchase items, and marketing and communication needs.
  • GiveSmart offers supportive training videos that are easy to share with staff.
  • GiveSmart makes the deposit of funds regularly rather than at the end of an event.
  • GiveSmart is easy to use for event participants.
  • The cost vs. benefit ratio is not preventative, and is a competitive product.
  • The customer service has been terrific!
  • It would help our organization to have some flexibility in some of the fields. In particular, in the field of the Donate an ITEM button, we would like to alter the words to reflect that works of art are being uploaded to the instant buy. We would rather it say Upload Art Work.
  • Also, it would be helpful to have flexibility in the field that appears as a banner when an item is available, we would like to have a banner read, "Accepted by Jury."
We looked into competitive applications and feel that we have made a good decision based on the competitive pricing, the customer service, the ease of use for the organization and the constituents. We are glad to know there may be a way to integrate GiveSmart into our SalesForce platform.
I only left off a small amount of a scale of ten to indicate that flexibility in some fields for buttons such as "Donate an Item" and "We welcome donations" be editable by the user.
The personal support by the representatives like Amy Henninger and the IT department support by chat and email has been terrific. We are all pleased with the positive, solution-driven support we have received.

We use it for Events like our Galas. We use it for ticketing, for Silent and Live Auctions, some messaging, and for donor information for these events. Another organization was doing a fundraiser totally for us and we were able to set up an online auction for that event as well.
  • Ease of item entry for auction items - very straight forward and clear direction
  • Ticketing - I don't do this part, but I know that we are happy with this function
  • Tracking Users in the system - both through search and through reporting
  • Reporting of revenue - the way you can look at the data from several angles
  • Item Sheets...this is where I would ask for some upgrading. I like the way they are exported to a formatted sheet - but they way too limited on how much info from the description comes across. Causes a ton more work to get item sheets with enough information on them.
  • Editing the item description - would like to see an 'underline' feature - and if possible a font color option
  • Before our auction goes live, and all the items are hidden as I am developing the auction and entering items, I can't use the arrow to go to the next or previous item. During the editing process, that would be VERY handy to be able to do.
  • Please bring back the option to have GiveSmart personnel at our event.
GiveSmart is definitely well-suited to our Live and Silent Auctions. The items are easy to read and there is plenty of room to add photos. The text messages sent to our audience are timely and informative. The ticketing system works well for the manager who runs that part.
For all the previous reasons mentioned - auction item clarity, ticketing function, timely messaging.
I have found that whenever I have had a question or problem I have been able to get support either by phone or online. I appreciate that the support is always very responsive and knowledgeable. They are always patient with my questions and make sure I get the answers I need.

We use it to build our event sales, auctions, and financial needs. We use it for ticket sales, auction items, messaging during events, and event records. It is used by several of the employees across the organization. It addresses the need to have all components in our events in one customizable software program and enables us to keep financial and other records separate.

  • I would like to see the app stay open longer so users don't have to re-sign in.
  • I think the first time window should say create an account rather than sign.
  • The auto assigned user and passwords are too long.
  • We had some internet/wifi issues and the "Oh Snap" came up but the person was still charged and sometimes twice when they tried again.
I've only used it last year for our two golf events, and I feel it was well suited for those. This year we will use it for golf and gala events.
I like how we can build our event needs using the software. I would like to see the "Oh Snap" issue resolved and and easier sign-up/sign-in process simplified.

GiveSmart is an essential event management system we utilize with multiple events. It has integrated flawlessly into our virtual and now hybrid events in a way that allowed our organization to capture donor dollars from a distance. The platform is intuitive and can be customized to meet the needs of each event. The registration and checkout process is easily taught to volunteers. The system is user-friendly from ticket purchase, online bidding, and donation administration it is a must-have for non-profit organizations!

Nordson used the GiveSmart platform for our annual employee giving campaign. We had to quickly switch from in-person events to online due to COVID-19. Multiple locations within the United States used the site to hold events and online auctions. This product was used by our production and office employees to raise funds for our communities.
  • Ease of set-up.
  • Ability to track users use of the platform.
  • Ability to communicate to users via text message.
  • Translations of the site to other languages.
  • Customer care kept blaming issues on user error. There was no way to share my screen when I had an issue that I needed resolved. Sometimes trying to communicate your issue in words in slower than just showing the issue.
  • Being able to interface your site within our employee giving platform to avoid multiple log-ins for employees.
GiveSmart is well suited for fundraising events that heavily rely on online auctions or raffles. It allows users to easily interact with the system online via computer or smartphone. It would be less appropriate for employees that did not trust entering credit card information online or did not have a smartphone.
You do need some knowledge of HTML coding in order to utilize the site to it's fullest potential. It was helpful that GiveSmart provided and still provides webinars on best practices. It allows use to learn from others.
Dealing with random customer support was AWFUL. However, reaching out directly to staff within GiveSmart allowed us to have a few challenges solved. At one point it took over 24 hours for customer support to return our request for help.

We started to use GiveSmart last year primarily as a silent auction platform for an event that we switch from in-person to virtual, but going forward we will begin using the platform's full capabilities. It has been very useful for contactless uses in the time of Covid to make all participants feel safe.

GiveSmart is easy to use and ideal for virtual events and can be used for in-person events to manage the silent auction, seating charts, and check-in to the event. Being able to use the platform for unlimited events within the contract year is very useful and being able to add other users and volunteers for different levels of access is helpful as well.
I have a design background, but overall, the platform is simple to use and set up a campaign. The live chat has been very helpful when I have needed guidance or help to try to set up a section of the campaign. I will be exploring more areas of what GiveSmart offers and how best to incorporate into our upcoming events.
Our direct account manager has been very helpful with questions and demos to explain the different areas we can take advantage of. As I mentioned previously, live chat has been a great resource and all I have interacted with have been very knowledgeable. The chat transcript that is emailed is excellent for future reference.

Our non-profit utilizes GiveSmart for smaller fundraising opportunities throughout the year, along with our major giving event that includes a silent auction and ticketing. It allows attendees and donors to manage their experience through a mobile device and easily participate in the giving experience. The reporting helps me, from a development experience, recap the donation and silent auction successes, as well as determine attendees for events compared to actual sales.
  • GiveSmart is easy to implement and offers helpful webinars to encourage deeper use.
  • GiveSmart's online chat for help is fantastic; love the real time assistance.
  • GiveSmart offers detailed reporting that's exportable and easy to interpret.
  • It would be nice to able to manipulate campaign page layouts more than what's available currently.
  • It would be helpful to have the batch reporting and batch activity recap together so you could see the deposits and then all the transactions that correspond in one report versus the two that I end up manipulating for our finance folks.
  • The ability to select export fields and put them in a certain order would be a great feature (and allow that to be saved so future reports export the same) versus manipulating after the fact.
  • The ability to set the date on statements would be great versus today's date being the default.
  • The limitation of a text to give "name" to only have one use and if another organization has it is frustrating. It would be nice to have it by organization versus globally across the GiveSmart platform
GiveSmart is a great option for organizations like ours with events that include multiple elements and allow our committee access to building their part (i.e., silent auction items and bourbon pulls). Quick text-to-give campaigns are easy to run through GiveSmart too.
Not everything is intuitive, customizable, or easily found, even in the resources. However, overall it's fairly user-friendly.
Every time I've used online support, it's been a great experience. The webinar offerings for increased learning and ideas are wonderful, especially for an organization like mine, that's still new and we're building our fundraising and event offerings.

We use it primarily for event management and had it for a virtual gala in February.

Great for small shops and helps to leverage productivity, especially in planning and executing a fundraising event. It helped us sell tickets, sell auction items, track donations and sponsorships in real-time. We would have liked to seen batch loading of data (gifts, tickets, auction, etc.) availability into Salesforce, as this would have saved a lot of time.
It performed well for us in almost all aspects. We were able to see the status of gifts and sponsorships in real time, which was a huge help. We also could review results easily after the event, which helped with analysis and will be critical in planning for next year.
I would say the support was very good, we generally got questions answered in a timely and productive manner. The representatives were professional, and most had a good knowledge of the product and were able to solve whatever problems we had relating to our project. We also found that the support staff understood what we were doing and helped to streamline their answers for the best results.

We initially used GiveSmart for a virtual event during the pandemic. It was successful so we now offer the option of donating through GiveSmart and it has been very beneficial.

Our organization uses GiveSmart to help manage our annual gala. It is used by the auction committee under the school’s development team.
  • User friendly.
  • Admin friendly.
  • Generating solicitor report.
  • Report formatting so it works well with other systems.
  • Pairing couples so it doesn’t have to be done manually.
  • Sending out thank you donation emails post event.
Fundraising, silent/live auctions, ticket sales are all appropriate. Less appropriate would be for accounting purposes or very small fundraisers.
It is very easy for users to navigate. Admin training is simple & direct.
The live chat has been extremely useful. For more in depth questions or getting the campaign set up our customer services rep is quick to respond.
