Overall Satisfaction with Google Classroom

As a private school, our faculty use Google classroom on a daily basis. As a free and integrated learning management system, it has been a powerful tool for interacting with the students. Teachers use it for submitting and receiving assignments, posting comments/notes//discussions/quizzes, or even taking grades.
  • Post Assignments: As a Google school with Chromebooks, classroom is by far the easiest and simplest way for faculty to post and receive assignments using Google Docs.
  • Quizzes: With built-in integrations with Google Forms, quizzes are easy to build and grade.
  • Building classes: Making a class is simple, and it is a great way to communicate directly with the students.
  • Grading: Since Google isn't really a Student Information System, grading has to be transposed into another system after they are done in Google Classroom.
  • Building Classes: Although building a class is simple, it isn't automatic. Once again, the lack of Student Information System integration means more direct work for our faculty.
  • Forums and open discussion features would be a big improvement.
  • As a free LMS, it has opened up lots of educational possibilities at no additional overhead.
  • Some faculty claim that classroom has saved lots of time and effort by digitizing quizzes and tests.
  • By being able to digitally submit tests, quizzes, and handouts, the school has saved money on printing costs.
Paid solutions such as Powerschool Learning do provide a wider range of features and integrations, but Google Classroom is still a very powerful tool. If you're already a G-Suite user, it is a no-brainer. It's free, and is ready to use once your Google Users are created. It also seems to act as a platform for other software like GoGuardian for Teachers, which uses Google Classroom to setup monitoring sessions for our teachers. All in all, it may not have all the functionality we want, but it's free and easy to use.
The obvious use case is in a classroom environment with teachers and students. It is a direct form of communication and data sharing, and it is built directly into the G-Suite. However, I have also had success using it for other things such as Clubs/Sports, or even as a project management tool.
