Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our marketing team uses Google Data Studio to visualize our marketing data. We use it for everything from blog traffic, website signups, to social media engagement and user demographics. Google Data Studio is a great tool for us because it's free, but it has some of the advanced features an enterprise software tool would have.

Pros and Cons

Charts and graphs are very easy to create and read.
Data sharing: it's easy to export a data set and share it with the people who need to see it.
Collaboration: it's simple for our team to hop on and edit a report someone already worked on.

The report is only viewable online. You can't export in a PDF or anything like that.
No automated delivery (like google analytics).
Errors: it's pretty common to get errors with your data, and it's not super clear what the issue is.

Return on Investment

Increased marketing funnel visualization.
Better internal reports when looking at project ROI.
Better visual aids for presentations, both internal and external.

Support Rating

For a free tool, there isn't much you can do for support. Similar to Gmail, there isn't a support line or email you can reach out to, but that's to be expected with a free tool.

Google Data Studio is a great tool if you're on a budget. For a free tool, it's amazing. It has some great features, the kinds of things you might find in a very expensive product, and it's completely free. We've used Google Data studio to visualize a lot of our marketing data. If you want basic reports, you don't need to pay for a product.
