Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Object Storage
IBM Cloud Object Storage is the primary cloud storage solution we use in our organization. We store images, audios, videos, and other file assets, run reports and other analytics on the meta-data associated with those assets.
Pros
- Compatibility with Amazon S3 API
- Simple and quick to setup
- Secure
- Integration with other cloud services such as AI
Cons
- Does not support S3 style versioning for public cloud
- Documentation, while easy to use, certain configurations lack documentation (or hard to find) for further clarification.
- Easy and straightforward solution for our cloud storage needs
- Consumption based pricing and is cost effective
We use this feature lightly, but we can see it being very useful for organizations that require heavy data related use cases.
IBM Aspera makes transferring large files fast and easy. By integrating this with IBM Cloud Object Storage, we are able to quickly transfer files such as large videos in minutes.
IBM Cloud Object Storage's tiers made it easy and cost effective for use to set up different environments based on our needs, e.g. active for production day to day uses, and cold for backups that do not require frequent access.
IBM Cloud Object Storage offers one key differentiator, which is its compatibility with Amazon S3. It is a key benefit we need as many of our applications work with Amazon S3 (a more popular and well supported solution), being compatible with its API, this allowed us to use IBM Cloud Object Storage without needing to make any additional changes.
