IBM Cloud Object Storage Review
Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Object Storage
I work as a reseller. Then I have supported many projects to offload on premises data to cloud.
It presents a good relation between costs and capacity therefore is a good solution for long term data retention.
Also some "cloud native" customers rely on this as a "data store".
Pros
- Cost x Benefit
- Availability
Cons
- The costs for put and get operations may have a huge impact. It should be explained with more details to avoid pitfalls for new users.
- For example, we had a user that was expending a lot of money with database storage on IBM Cloud. We created a workflow to offload the data from database to object storage. This saved the customer money and helped us to retain the customer on IBM Cloud.
Well, I think this feature has a huge potential, but personally I do not have a customer use case to show off.
At the moment we are working a case that involves a huge data transfer, and we will rely on ASPERA to move. ASPERA has an outstanding performance to data transfer. Has no peer on market.
Yes, this is a use case!
Cost and convenience.
- IBM Cloud Virtual Servers
IBM Cloud delivers a top tier cloud environment and in Brazil it has less expensive costs. This encourages users to give the jumpstart to cloud.
