Planning Analytics Makes Forecasting Easy and Fast
Overall Satisfaction with IBM Planning Analytics
I use IBM Planning Analytics mostly for financial planning, forecasting, and reporting and it's been super useful across different departments, especially when we need real-time insights, we also plugged in timeseries forecasting with Watson Studio which helps with better predictions.
Pros
- it’s easy to use even if you’re not technical and implementation with the cloud version is quick
- i really like the Excel integration—it keeps things familiar and adds more power
- it can handle massive datasets in memory and still stay fast, which is a big deal
Cons
- it doesn’t work offline, making it difficult for me to work or gather required data when I don’t have internet connection
- the learning curve is quite steep
- we cut down on manual budgeting and forecasting work, which saved us a ton of time
- our decision-making improved a lot because of the real-time data and automation
- it only took us about three months to create custom models that really fit our needs
The real-time analysis through TM1 integration is super helpful, I like how customizable the dashboards and reports are—you can tweak them as needed and also being able to access it via Excel, REST API or the web makes it flexible for different teams.
We’ve made big improvements in how we plan and analyze finances since using it. I can now make decisions faster, even when there’s just a small change in the data, it helps a lot with creating reports straight from raw data, which saves me so much time.
