Overall Satisfaction with IBM Planning Analytics

I am an IT consultant and have been working with Planning Analytics/ TM1 for 15 years. It is probably the most robust planning and forecasting solution in the market.

Pros

  • Budgeting
  • Forecasting
  • "What If Scenario".

Cons

  • Not Sure, Maybe Industry use cases.
  • It is very positive. It helps open up new clients.
  • It provides insights to data that most cannot.
  • IBM's new interface is a huge time saver.
The "Excel-like" interface is very attractive. It allows users to get up to speed quickly. I also like the supply-chain integration. This is very valuable because most supply chain solutions do not have advanced reporting or analytics built within.
It allows us/users to look at data in a multidimensional way. It provides valuable insights that enable me to make better and more informed business decisions.
As it is related to MS Excel, IBM Planning Analytics is a much more robust and complete solution for the CFO or COO in mind. Oracle Hyperion stacks up nicely against IBM Planning Analytics. However, IBM's investment in AI allows Planning Analytics users more options and speed.

Do you think IBM Planning Analytics delivers good value for the price?

Are you happy with IBM Planning Analytics's feature set?

Yes

Did IBM Planning Analytics live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Would you buy IBM Planning Analytics again?

Yes

For a CFO or a COO to do budgeting and planning, IBM Planning Analytics would be essential. It is a tool that can take in multiple data sources and showcase them in a multidimensional way. If you are looking just for a BI or reporting tool, Planning Analytics would be considered "overkill".
