Overall Satisfaction with IBM Power
The IBM [Power Systems S924] is used very widely in my current company. It is the backbone if you will of all the operations within the company. I always explain the system comparison as needing one Ferrari instead of 500 Fords to run business. ALL of our applications run in the company use the server in one way or another and without it the company would not succeed like it does. It is one, if not THE best system that we currently have
Pros
- The system processes more transactions than ANY other system EVER could.
- Our IBM system not only hosts but supports many different platforms including, IBMi, Linux, AIX, and even Windows if you wish
- The database is world class and there are no other database platforms that can perform like the DB2 hosted on an IBM Power system
Cons
- I would love to see a better graphical interface for managing the http servers and services hosted on an IBMi system
- I would like to see much more hardware documentation on the IBM Power system with real world examples of how companies use it
- Better GUI's for ACS, the client connection software. It is seriously lacking compared to other GUI's for other systems
- Night processing has increased and provided better timings by 150% compared to our older systems
- User issues and tickets for slowness and slow processing has declined significantly
- Since we have the newer and better systems more companies are considering our company to host their business as they know the power and scalability of the Power system we have.
