A very good statistical analysis tool
Overall Satisfaction with IBM SPSS Modeler
IBM SPSS Modeler is used by our analytics department in order to perform management analysis and reporting, and also to perform financial control testing within the company. With the various statistical models and analytical tools, we can use this product for data discovery and exploration, then analyze the raw data and find patterns in it that help decision makers in their business decisions.
Pros
- A very nice and easy to use interface.
- A great variety of analytics, from statistical calculation to data validation and predictive statistics.
- Has a steep learning curve.
Cons
- Has very old style graphs, with lots of limitations.
- Some advanced statistical functions cannot be done through the menu.
- The data connectivity is not that extensive.
- It's an expensive tool.
- Helps make business decisions by finding hidden patterns in data.
- For social scientists, this tool makes analysis so much more effective and saves a lot of time, while it helps gain greater insight into their data.
- Since SPSS does not provide good visualization features, we need to invest in a separate tool for visualization only.
SPSS has a great set of analytical models, but SPSS is especially strong (compared to other tools) in complex statistical modeling and predictive analytics/statistics. However, the data connectivity features of SPSS are not the best, as the data sources SPSS can work with are limited. Also, it can be pretty slow and clunky compared to other tools.
