Overall Satisfaction with IBM Storage FlashSystem
As a service provider, we need to provision storage for our IBM Power System and deliver usable storage for our customers, guaranteeing performance and resiliency. We were searching for flash storage capable of native replication between local sites (in campus) and remote sites for business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities
Pros
- Performance, with nvme storage
- Resiliency, with its built-in hardware resiliency
- Software, with compression capabilities, replication software
Cons
- Interoperability
- Difficult dashboard
- Lack of file protocols built-in
- 25% time saving on upgrade procedure
- 20% more performance
I find that the capabilities most valuable are: - performance, thanks to nvme performance - resiliency, with built in hardware redundancy - software, thanks to compression we can store a lot of data that we can replicate synchronous locally or asynchronous remotely for guarantee our customer flexible ways of recovery
With IBM Storage FlashSystem we are capable of replicate storage to other building with simple configuration and no overhead in normal operations. We can take snapshot for ensuring fast restore of our data and we can deliver lot of performance compared to our old traditional storage that use rotative disks
