Overall Satisfaction with IBM Targetprocess
We have started using Targetprocess to create roadmaps for development teams to share during quarterly planning and for tracking and reporting on different work efforts. We intend to use it to track OKR progress in the future. We would like to use it more strategically, but haven't found that value yet.
Pros
- Shows/syncs roadmaps with ADO delivery plans
- Allows for different reporting for tracking work progress
Cons
- Self-service in configuring new item types, workflows, automation. Requires us to pay a contractor to do these things.
- Expensive to roll out to organization. We have to limit licenses to users to submit new Ideas, requiring us to define others ways to submit.
- I'd like to see a metamodel of the way my company has Targetprocess configured of different entity types. The only model seems to be for Targetprocess data/meta-model.
- Better training, documentation on how to create new entities, set up workflows and automations. The existing documentation only covers siloed topics and doesn't show how to do end-to-end setup of a new entity type. What is EVERYTHING I need to do, not just, how do I update an unused entity type to be what I want. What do I do after that to use it?
- No direct positive business ROI has caused executive leadership to play down use of the tool
- We are hoping to use this to track progress of OKRs and business strategy, but don't have but in from executives on the value of this yet.
