Overall Satisfaction with IBM watsonx Assistant

We are a large organization (1000+) spanning multiple countries, and the HR department receives many questions and requests. Given the limited size of the team, we needed a scalable tool to handle common HR-related questions accurately. Given where our employees are located, HR policies are complex, and questions often pile up for certain staff members. Although we do have HR pages and documentation, employees don't often spend time looking through them before asking common questions.

Pros

  • Conversational responses.
  • Ability to decipher questions.
  • Ability to scan through provided resource to provide accurate responses.
  • Response time.

Cons

  • Resource and community is in early stages.
  • Free trial period.
  • The pricing is reasonable given how many HR staff hours it saves.
  • With clear input the accuracy is very good.
  • Employees are happy that it's available 24/7 vs human responses could take days.
With the growing use of AI and chatbots, it's very easy to use, and the conversational language makes it easier than keyword searches in a document. The contextual language processing is impressive. It's easy to integrate into our internal portal. The use of this tool would depend on each company's security and data sensitivity.
Employees have been impressed by the abilities so far. Since we use this for internal and human resources, sensitive topics are still better suited for human interaction. On the flip side, due to the bot layer, there are also scenarios where employees are more willing to engage without judgment. Overall, the AI feature has been a good addition.
We have existing licenses with IBM for other products, so it was easier to integrate, and it had the features we needed.

We've only implemented this tool for HR, but it's been great so far. Of course, with any chatbot, it's only as good as your input, but we can see the benefits already. Automating responses to certain questions alleviates potentially wrong responses (human error). I would recommend testing out many questions before sending them to employees.
