Overall Satisfaction with Joule

In the past and currently, I also use Joule (a generative AI tool from SAP) in our manufacturing landscape. The primary business problem it helped us solve was BOM-related issues, work center capacity bottlenecks, and missing parts when committing to Leadtime scheduling based on our recipes. We tried using issues related to yield, but that is still in process, though.

Pros

  • Capacity shortage related issues.
  • Missing parts in BOM.
  • Production visibility to planner and supervisors.
  • Breakdown issues related to plant maintenance ( EAM module in sap).

Cons

  • More visual chart is always useful to show visibility in areas like Kanban and JIT.
  • Data extracted from third party systems also instead of just fetching from SAP.
  • A detailed downloadable report which can be mapped locally used generative AI tools.
  • It saved at least 25% of development cost of various reporting.
  • increased efficiency by 10% at lease by showing end to end visibility.
  • End to end supply chain visibility helped in reducing return by 5% at least.
It is working well in a few areas. However, it will be interesting to see how it can compete with other generative AI and agentic AI tools developed by third-party companies.
Joule is an organically developed tool by SAP, and it's always good to use the same product. It may help when we upgrade our system.

Do you think Joule delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Joule's feature set?

Yes

Did Joule live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Joule go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Joule again?

Yes

Joule is very well suited for areas like manufacturing, QM, and PM (EAM), based on my personal experience. I did not find it to be working well for a heavily customized, locally developed SAP system (such as CTMS). It is still a work in progress, though. It will also be interesting to see how Joule behaves with more satellite systems.
