Overall Satisfaction with Kintone

We use Kintone as our database to record and track all of our current and developing partnerships with various organizations, as well as the end-users (our students) who are affiliated with these organizations and also operating independently. We have built over 15 different apps within Kintone to manage different aspects including Organizations, Persons, Communication, Training Events, and Curriculum Requests. But we have also created Kintone apps that help us run more effective reports to pull all of this information together into a comprehensive picture through the use of the Lookup function in Kintone, allowing one app to reference a record in another app. An example of this would be our Countries app, which has a record for every country in the world that contains its Region and Language(s). This allows us to generate reports in the Organizations app that is broken down by Country, Region, or Language. To give a sense of scale, our largest app, which tracks every communication between our staff and end-users, has almost 20k records, all of which reference multiple other records in other apps (such as the person who sent it and the person who received it). Lastly, the ability to update and modify the apps and reports in real-time is invaluable.
  • Lookup Function to enable records to reference other records
  • Easy to modify/create apps and reports in real-time
  • Web-based, so usable on virtually any device
  • The biggest one I would have said was just fixed this year, which was displaying a real-time counter of the progress for imports/exports without the need to refresh the page. And if the import failed, the addition of a button on that page to "Retry" the import. So my main complaint was already addressed.
  • Ability to leverage reports of 10-20k records that are easily modified and filtered in real-time
  • It has made the ability to innovate and refine our reporting and data management a highly iterative and ongoing process, thus allowing us the freedom to change as circumstances and needs develop
When we have had very complex reporting needs that we were unsure how to develop a Kintone app for, we have been able to reach out directly to our point person in Kintone to help guide us through the process, and even in some cases help design things for us.
The ability to redesign, or simply build from the ground up, apps with the drag-and-drop modules, and then apply those changes immediately and automatically to the whole database has been incredibly simple. The way we use Kintone now is very different than the way we did 3 years ago, even though Kintone itself has only changed a little in that time. Rather, we have been able to learn and change how we build and use the apps in it.

Do you think Kintone delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Kintone's feature set?

Yes

Did Kintone live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Kintone go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Kintone again?

Yes

Kintone is well-suited to applications where there is a need to manage a large number of records, with the ability to have them reference each other, and generate reports and filtered views of that data easily. Kintone is not suited for smaller-scale applications, simply due to it being somewhat technical (you need to understand deeply how the software thinks so that you build apps to talk to each other properly) and thus the learning curve not paying off for the volume of records actually needing to be managed and tracked.
