Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus to Enhance our email security and to reduce the workload of our IT Department. KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus allows us to reduce the number of support tickets, emails and instantmessages we previously received related to employees asking an email was a phishing simulation or if it was a real threat. It has help us by allowing for a consistent reporting method for all emails. We also use it for automated block list management and of bad links and sending addresses. We have this configured to work with our our Microsft 365 Exchanged online environment.

Cons

Setup and management of Rooms could be clearer
Deployment of PhisER button not as reliable as it could be, possibly a Microsoft Exchange addin problem.

Return on Investment

Significantly reduced number of tickets and emails for IT department.

Time Savings

The automated review of the reported email automatically cleans reported emails 80-90% the time and is very accurate. Being able to define searches inside PhisEr and auto-rip them from inboxes is a great time saver.

PhishER Capabilities

We have implement the PhishML, PhishRip and KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus Blocklist functionality.
We have not yet tried the PhishFlip feature.

PhishML saves us a ton of time and has a great accuracy. PhishRip works hand in hand with PhishMl to automate removed and the block lists are great for keeping bad sender out, I just wish Microsoft allowed for larger more detailed blocking rules.

Usability

KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus is generally easy to use and navigate one you get the hang of where the setting and rules are. I would liek to see it couple a little more tightly with the KnowBe4 platform in a more singular view and not so much back and forth.

Alternatives Considered

Microsoft Defender Threat Intelligence and Abnormal Security

KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus fills a lot of gaps that are present in microsofts built in anti-phishing tools even once you have upgraded your licensing in microsoft. Abnormal is an entirely different beast compare to KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus. It is an enterprise grade machine learning based platform that learns individual user behaviour and writing patterns. The protection is on an entirely different level and is priced accordingly.

KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus is a great complement to the KnowBe4 phishing simulation system as it helps to reduce the workload of tickets that the IT department receives related to simulated phishing attempts.
It also does a good job reviewing and removing reported emails that slip past Microsofts Exchange Online protections. Even with defender licenses, this is a good addition. It may not be a good fit for larger teams and there are better solutions if you have the a larger budget, but this is a great low cost enhancement for users of Microsoft 365 and KnowBe4 PhishER/PhishER Plus.
