Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF

I use Kofax to combine and rearrange PDFs, modify text on editable documents, and extract graphics from PDFs.

Pros

  • Combining PDF, extraction, and rearranging pages is seamless.
  • Locking down PDFs including cleaning to protect sensitive redactions before sending them to customers.
  • Editing and marking up PDFs is easy and very intuitive for end users to accomplish.

Cons

  • Some fonts do not show up correctly, resulting in having to use an alternative reader to view the documents. Would be nice to be able to do OCR where graphics (as pictures or within tables) are skipped and only the text within the document is brought over to MS Word. Activation is a bit draconian in that PCs subjected to upgrades and hardware changes can run out of activations quickly.
  • Allows for end users to quickly modify PDFs for internal use and to send to customers. When needing to quickly modify PDFs, Kofax allows our users in Engineering and Design to do it quickly and efficiently so they can focus their time on doing just that - Designing and Engineering. No negative reporting to report.
Power PDF is fast with loading of documents and requires very little training to master. Upgrading from older versions to newer ones (v3 to v5) is seamless, and the rewards when doing so include a much-improved experience including improved OCR and new features.
I have used older versions of Acrobat and SodaPDF. Soda PDF is terrible and Buggy. Acrobat was also slow and cumbersome, and expensive.
PowerPDF offers the best bang for the buck with all the features our company requires when working with PDFs. There's always room for improvement, and OCR, though not perfect, has been better with the ease of new releases!

For my company, obviously Microsoft office has been invaluable. Visio allows me to do my flow charting an network diagrams with ease. For others departments Solidworks 2023 and Infor MRP/ERP program Visual Manufacturing has been invaluable
