Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

I am a one man company doing Home inspections. I also work as a Project Manager at a General Contractor. I use Power PDF at both organizations. Use at Hawkeye is clearly for the entire organization. At the GC I work for I am the only user.
I use the product to create, modify, and edit PDF documents. I use another product as the default for opening and reading PDFs, however when I have to create or modify I default to Power PDF. It gives me the options to change almost everything in the target document as I need.
  • Editing text and objects. I am able to cut and past, as well as modify text easily.
  • Document assembly. I am able to easily shift the order of pages and orientation of the same.
  • Secure images inserted into a document. I insert my signature on a regular basis, and by flattening the document, I am able to reduce the possible of that signature being lifted out.
  • Insertion of videos into documents. With the demise of support for Flash, I have had to see a new means to do so, and I am just now working with this option.
  • The resizing options on Adobe are easier to use.
  • I am hesitant to recommend anything that 'dumbs' down the user interface. Yes, some other PDF programs have a simpler user interface, but I highly value the options your interface offers.
  • The help menus might be able to offer more detail on how to accomplish tasks in the UI.
  • Cost savings is the #1 reason I chose the product, and it still delivers.
  • Ability to edit documents is the secondary reason, and this option is excellent
  • Return on investment is excellent. Other options are simply non functional or outrageously expensive.
There is a learning curve to be overcome when moving from the industry standard, however the more I use the product the better I like it. I do recommend the help section be added to, possibly using AI to respond to specific questions on how to accomplish a particular task.
Power PDF has nearly all or perhaps more options than Adobe Acrobat Full version at a much lower cost. Adobe Reader DC does some things very well but is severely limited in most aspects. My experience with PDF exchange is that it seems rather disjointed and was harder to implement editing than with Power PDF. I have not used PDF Xchange for some years now, but when I was running it beside Power PDF, I was much more productive with Power PDF.
I have never had to call on support. Therefore I can't offer a evaluation. Actually I suspect that says they tackle problems before the end customer has to reach out.

Again, the ability to edit, and document assembly. Insertion, removal of pages, etc. These two are the key reasons I use this product and will continue to use the product.
Editing is the strong point I have found using this product. Without purchasing a full version of Adobe, I have found nothing else that offers the same options and versatility. From my memory of using Adobe, I believe Power PDF offers more than Adobe did.
Measuring and markup is a bit easier in Reader, however, again, I do not want to see the options in Power PDF reduced, because when I DO need them, they work better than Reader.
