Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

I use PowerPDF for everything work and non-work-related. I use it to look at claims documents, edit documents to add markup. 90% of the time I'm using it to just review the documents that are generated from an external claims processing application. I use it for personal documents also for filling in text fields and so on.

Pros

  • open documents
  • read documents
  • edit documents

Cons

  • edit text fields, sometimes you have to add text boxes to fill in fields which gets frustrating
I've found it very simple to use, it's included in our organization's inventory and I am very thankful for that because it beats out any free PDF editor/reader you can find and also the paid version of Adobe. It opens up easily and makes it easy to view multiple documents via tabs(vs having separate windows for each document)
Adobe is more bloated, takes longer to open, and crashes more often.
I've never had any issues with it.

Do you think Tungsten Power PDF delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Tungsten Power PDF's feature set?

Yes

Did Tungsten Power PDF live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Tungsten Power PDF go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Tungsten Power PDF again?

Yes

The ability to add fields, edit text and add markup has been extremely useful for filling in documents that were scanned in from the business side.
For just reading and editing documents with editable fields, it is far superior to Adobe. If you have a document [that] requires you to fill in fields and it doesn't have pre-existing fields then you have to create boxes and that gets a bit annoying, still better than Adobe though.

Using Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

1000 - Information Technology and Business Operations - We handle everything from data coming in from outside the hospital to leaving the hospital as well as the Health Plan that we own.
5 - We usually don't have many issues but we have a small support team that handles all applications.
  • Looking at Claims
  • Reviewing CMS documents
  • Looking at fax images
  • I cannot think of any
  • OCR
  • OCR
  • OCR - I listed it thrice because it is the future for organizations like ours
I love using this product, it functions much better than Adobe, opens up faster and has more tools than Adobe does. It makes viewing and editing PDF's significantly easier.
