Power PDF Advanced

Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance Power PDF)

[Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance Power PDF)] Advanced is used throughout the company as PDF editing software designed to support needs in creating standardized documents, forms, and an easy method for acquiring signatures. Source files include PDFs, picture files, and Microsoft Office documents. PDFs provide a proof of record and can indicate whether the document has been altered after signature(s).
  • Has tools to easily edit PDFs including editing text, typewriter, and highlighting.
  • Can combine multiple PDFs into a single document.
  • Can change the order, insert, and delete pages.
  • Can sign digitally and lock documents.
  • No easy way to convert combine multiple files (from different sources) into a standard 8.5" x 11" PDF.
  • Certain functions must be accessed by the Advanced Editor and then the file reconverted - causes regular alignment issues on PDF content.
  • Incorporating/improving bulk file processing functions and customization (adding more options) would be a huge time saver.
  • Reduces the need to print documents
  • Saves time processing both documents and forms
  • Decreases time for customer signatures, improving profitability
  • Using Power PDF Advanced together with an eSignature service like DocuSign has been a huge improvement over any previous method
  • Inability to easily create standard sized (8.5" x 11") PDFs from varying sized sources has required a time-consuming manual process and has resulted in a search for different software for these scenarios
[Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance Power PDF)] Advanced has been easy to use but requires time to learn the menus and ways certain tasks are completed. Depending on the user, this may take a few days and for some, has taken a few weeks. Having someone with prior experience guide new users has been instrumental to maintain software usage efficiency and productivity.
Compared to online PDF editors, [Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance Power PDF)] Advanced is much easier to use and more robust.

Compared to Adobe Acrobat DC, Power PDF Advanced is not as intuitive and has a few missing functions, however price was a major consideration when determining a company-wide solution. This compares to the need to either pay monthly (Adobe Acrobat DC) or to pay over twice the amount for Acrobat Pro 2020.
Have not reached out to Kofax for product support, but the initial product acquisition was painless.

Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), DocuSign
The strongest features for [Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance Power PDF)] Advanced have been the Form Typer, form editing capabilities, PDF editing tools, and Pages Panel for editing pages. With the Windows shell integration, it is easy to combine PDF files.
[Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance Power PDF)] Advanced is strong for editing files already standardized and requiring minimal tweaking, including files directly from Microsoft Office. One strength is the Form Typer, which allows the automated creation of PDF editable forms. Combining PDF files is also a strength with Windows shell integration.

An area for improvement would be the ability to create standardized PDFs from image files. There is no easy way to implement a standard 8.5" x 11" PDF from image files - on the conversion output, each of the page dimensions are determined by the original image dimensions.
Pre-processing utilizing different software is also needed to clean up images converted to PDF, which cannot be done within Power PDF Advanced.
