Overall Satisfaction with Lansweeper

Lansweeper does a great job of scanning our network and providing data on our equipment. For example a desktop PC or laptop can be scanned and you are provided a detailed breakdown of peripherals, software, and hardware. It gives a quick snapshot with both high and low levels of information. Another great feature is that is can show switch information along with what is connected to all ports.

Pros

  • Gives me high and low level details of desktop or laptop - software, hardware, peripherals
  • I can see switches and what is connected to each port along with MAC and vlan information
  • I have the ability to install/uninstall software
  • I can filter by domain, type of equipment, operating system, etc...

Cons

  • Some of the installs need exact switches
  • Sometimes it takes a while for a new machine to show up in Lansweeper
  • It has a track on the pulse of our assets
  • Keeps an eye on network
Even if you use it for the most basic data you would be happy with the results you can find. It is very easy to find a user and the equipment they use which includes where they are on the network and what software/hardware they have. It's good to see the links between hardware and network.
Kace and Lansweeper have a similar ability to pull information from machines about hardware and software. They both do a great job of gathering data from equipment.

If you want an easy way to find everything attached to your network then this is the tool for you. It is fun to drill down into the data and see which users are attached to devices and things like that. Assets can be tracked very well and searches are a vital part of finding data.
