Overall Satisfaction with Lifesize Video Conferencing
While reviewing video conferencing systems, we wanted to accomplish the following objectives:
- Put us in direct connection with our branch office over two hours away saving on travel expenses, time, and mileage.
- Achieve a more personal experience above and beyond a conference call.
- Bring our growing company together, Not only the management level, but also departmental and the company as a whole.
We have since expanded to four locations and multiple remote offices, with the two newest locations residing over three hours away. Lifesize has allowed us to leverage our investment in this great technology to bring all four branches together with a simple button push, real time, full HD, and seamless.
Some innovative ways we use the Lifesize Video Conference System include:
- Remote training for new employees including: human resources, information technology support, interdepartmental training, and application training
- Broadcasting vendor training where the vendor is physically in one location and broadcast down to the other locations and remote users
- Departmental and project management group meetings spanning all locations, including remote user input while travelling allowing us to break down the four walls of the office and operate globally when needed
- Worksite video conference using a mobile device to stream video back to our engineers and technicians in our office for real time problem resolution
- Instant on connectivity: Depending on connection method it is literally two to three button pushes on a touch screen and you are live in a conference.
- No PC required: Lifesize requires no PC to operate and is completely self sufficient. If you wish to display content for the meeting, you would need a device to broadcast. We have used a PC, Mac, Laptop, Google chromecast, and een ipads/tablets to display content to meeting for example.
- One vendor for all components: Lifesize is a package deal. When we made the initial investment, we have not had to purchase any additional hardware to make the system work. With the exception of the display (TV, Projector), the camera, phone, and console are all manufactured by Lifesize versus the "build your own" video conference system of various components from different manufacturers.
- Allow easier management of appointment setting, scheduling the device, and users right from the phone.
- Through the use of an external computer, allow the ability to utilize the camera for other video conference systems like GoToMeeting, Skype, WebEx, and others. Many times when meeting requests are sent to us, they require us to use their software and we aren't able to broadcast video since the camera isn't available
- Make a wireless version of the phone: Having that usb cord run across the floor is a challenge, especially in a packed room. Wireless with a simple power plug would be ideal. Make it retroactive as well to allow us to use existing hardware wirelessly with a plug-in module.
