Marketo for B2C Email Marketing
Overall Satisfaction with Marketo
The Marketing dept uses Marketo to implement our B2C email marketing campaigns. With Marketo being integrated with Salesforce, we are able to personalize, automate, and set-up ongoing email campaigns.
Pros
- Excellent customer support. They go above and beyond at solving a problem or even helping you along the way so you never feel like you're on your own.
- Helps to manage lead database and cleanup emails.
- Marketo lets you easily set up and launch new campaigns.
Cons
- I don't like the interface of the GIANT buttons in the middle of the page when you click on an email campaign. I think it takes up valuable work space to actually see what your're doing. It's a bit redundant too when the same thing is in the top nav.
- You can't edit the date format in tokens. There is a workaround where you can edit the token using a script but unless you can write the script, forget it. The default date format should be month-day-year. This makes for a poor customer experience when trying to send payment reminder emails, etc.
- I would like better tools to design emails.
- I would like to see where customers clicked in emails and not just an open and click-through rate.
- Marketo has helped to increase our online to offline conversion rate.
While CheetahMail is a full-service company, I can do everything I need to do in Marketo without the hefty price tag of using CheetahMail. Since we are a smaller organization and don't need enterprise level email support, Marketo works well for us and we are able to achieve all our email marketing goals through self-service in Marketo.
Using Marketo
Pros | Cons |
---|---|
Like to use Well integrated Feel confident using | Unnecessarily complex Difficult to use Requires technical support Slow to learn Cumbersome Lots to learn |
- Editing emails within the Design Studio are very easy to use for anyone who has used any sort of editing tools in any other web-based program.
- Running one time batch campaigns are pretty simple to set-up and launch without completely understanding or knowing how everything works in Marketo.
- Sometimes it's hard to figure out you have to set up a Smart List before you can run a campaign. It took me a while to really understand how it works.
