Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

Marketo is our primary marketing automation tool. It allows us to manage and track who we market to and how often. This product is mainly used by the marketing department, however, we do use the SalesInsights tool within our CRM to give our sales teams visibility into the contact's interactions with marketing efforts. We use this tool to connect connected to our CRM so that we can seamlessly market to our entire database efficiently.
  • Allows us easy to use email templates that we customize to our needs
  • Helps us target our marketing efforts to a specific audience depending on the messaging
  • Helps us remain compliant with SPAM laws as well as email best practices.
  • Allows us import HTML designed templates
  • There are some basic features that have been left out, such as an out of office feature to send an auto response when the office is closed.
  • You get what you pay for with this platform, nothing is just given for free.
  • There do seem to be some glitches that you have to work around quite frequently - emails rendering improperly, campaigns disappearing for a day, etc.
  • Product Launches
  • Upsell
  • Cross-Sell
  • Customer Service
  • Lead Management
  • Prospecting / New Business
We run emails for almost every department through our Marketo system. Any communication that needs to go out to our customer or prospect base, goes through Marketo so that we can target and track the activity. Even our internal emails, that do not send from the platform, are often built in a Marketo template because of its ease of use.
While Marketo certainly has it's fair share of quirks, they are nothing compared to those of Eloqua. We actually had an employee that made their job decision based on if the company used Eloqua or not. I would say that Marketo is light years beyond Eloqua in being user friendly, in both the build process and reporting.
I think that Marketo is a great tool, however, there are certain glitches that could scare a new user that hasn't become accustomed to them. But once you're in the product to start to get used to the bugs, and find workarounds. I think the platform could be a bit more user-friendly, but it gets the job done.

Using Marketo's core features

  • Programs
  • Email Templates
  • Forms
  • Landing Pages
  • Smart Campaigns
  • Lead Scoring
  • Lead Sourcing
  • Segmentation
  • Lead Nurture
  • Reporting/Analytics
  • The ability to set up nurture programs in Marketo has been key to our marketing strategy this past year!
  • Multitude of reports - There are tons of different reports that you can pull within Marketo to quickly and easily analyze your data.
  • The integration with Saleforce, we are able to segment our audiences seamlessly due to this connection!
I wish that we had started to use the Nurture Programs (correctly), sooner. Marketo worked with us to understand what our specific needs were with our nurture programs, and worked with us to make sure that we had them set up correctly to achieve the results we were looking for.
We use the Marketo Community weekly. In our brainstorming sessions, we are constantly ask if something is possible within our Marketo processes. The Marketo Community is always the first place we go to look for answers. It's nice to here from a peer, how they resolved a similar issue, and sometimes a lot easier to understand than someone from technical support.
