Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use it in every aspect from documents to training to process deviations and CAPA to supplier and audit. The business problems this product addresses are streamlining, efficiency, and standardizarion for our company as we span across the United States and overseas. MasterControl Quality Excellence helps ensure we are compliant and meet the expectations of our customers.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Organization of documents and training
Tracking and trending of all aspects within the system
Continues meeting customer expectations with new products

Cons

Some of the audit history needs improvement as it's not user friendly.
For those who don't have AQEM, J reports doesn't work well.
Ability to reject a packet at the Doc Control step rather than abort.

Return on Investment

Reduction in time processing training records
Tracking of training records in real time.
Reduced time to complete document control.
Reduced time to complete deviations.

Usability

Again a lot of the functionality is great, for full users. But basic users don't have the same searchability as full users (which is insane). Only having 2 levels of licenses too is a hold back. I think having 3 levels would be more beneficial for most companies. Customization of my tasks and search columns (that stay) would also assist the end user experience significantly.

Alternatives Considered

Veeva Vault Quality

I personally, did not select MasterControl Quality Excellence. There are a lot of features included those previously mentioned (as well as compare previous versions) that Veeva simply does better. But there are some hold back to my preference (as stated previously). Additionally, the signing off in collaboration of none leaders and none management and then once it's rejected not everyone sees that, is another hold backs.

MasterControl Quality Excellence is great in a lot of ways but there are limitations to search functionality (really should just transition to advanced search rather than the other, tjeres no ability to customize your search columns and criteria or your my tasks. It makes it cumbersome for the end user.
