Overall Satisfaction with MasterControl Quality Excellence

We use MasterControl for our QMS needs including Document management, training, Quality event management, Audits and Supplier handling. The software addresses our concerns related to harmonizing documents across several sites and makes it easier to route documents electronically for collaboration and approvals. It also helps us assign and handle our training needs. We also use the tool to manage our quality events, audits and suppliers.

Pros

  • Electronic document routing and compliant e-signature capabilities
  • Easy to share documents with Auditors
  • Training assignments

Cons

  • The entire supplier module can be revamped
  • Audits module must be improved and several limitations including flexible workflow options and better oversight on audit observations etc..
  • User management is difficult as there usually is no better way to assign or remove users in bulk.

Several users find the tool to be useful only after several months of experience using the system. usability in general is good but it takes a lot of practice to get used to the system esp for users who have not worked with electronic systems before. Certain aspects of the system such as handling roles can be cumbersome to manage although there may be some advancements with AQEM. User management portion of the UI can be improved as well.
MasterControl is amongst the very few options that allowed us to satisfy majority of our Quality Management System needs using a single system. The ability for the systems to interact with other QMS aspects was crucial for our decision making. Documents and Training modules are probably the best modules compared to the rest.

MasterControl is well suited for organizations who are trying to move to electronic systems due to flexible workflows and 21 CFR complaint esignature capabilities. Additionally, training assignments for documents and other materials is easy to handle. MasterControl's AQEM for quality events is a very good update. The software has a lot of improvement in Supplier, Audits and Risk management areas.
