Overall Satisfaction with Matillion
As a software solution company for a construction company, one of the main reasons our customers buy our software is because of the reports. We offer hundreds of reports that can be customized by our customer and run them on daily basis. But the issue was everything was in an OLTP system. The query involved a lot of table and joins and pivoting done by SQL. The query would take sometimes between 1 to 2 hours for heavy reports and was killing the performance of the end user. But after Matillion, the data was denormalized, where the ETL process was blazing fast (less than 2 minutes). The users were provided with views of the denormalized data and it was very quick for the end users to run the query against this data. The ETL was intuitive and was extremely quick in loading.
- Loading is blazing fast. Good in mapping as well
- We used a lot of SQL pivoting that was extremely slow. After denormalized data, the queries were fast.
- Easy to use as a first timer.
- More documentation on new language used in matillion
- Better alerts on success and failure
- It made the big workloads relatively easier
- Development was easy and we got support from Matillion
The trial version took about 2 to 3 months.. and then it was quick with help from Matillion support.
