Microsoft Entra ID Review
Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Entra ID
There's a lot of different problems it addresses, but I guess I'll focus particularly on identity access management. That's one of my favorite topics to talk about anyway, we use it at our organization. I mean specifically for all the different systems that we use to log in. Everything is integrated with Entra ID and IAM and then we also implement that in all of our client organizations as well. The problem that it really addresses is identifying who you are and then the systems that you actually have access to. It's a great product, it does a really good job with it. You can incorporate multifactor authentication. It's another stuff along with that
Pros
- The ability to be able to control access to Microsoft related systems and then the ability be able to add applications as well to control single sign on and those types of things.
Cons
- I think compared to some other products that are out there, maybe JumpCloud or even Okta or something like that (and this is purely on the identity access space), it can be a little interesting to set up if you don't know what you're doing. If we bring in, we do a lot of work with medium sized businesses and they usually have their own IT staff associated with them and then we'll have to train them on how to do that process for them. Sometimes it can be a little interesting setting up some of the policies and things like that that work with it. They do a good job of using Microsoft help and those types of things, but there is some are for improvement in there compared to some of these other platforms.
- Positive. We're a reseller of the product and then we do implementation for our clients of the product and when we bring it up, we have nearly 100% salary rate on it once we start talking about it with our clients.
Almost all of our identities across all of our clients are in cloud and it's pretty simple to do a deployment once you set them up with their on Microsoft IDs and start the process of moving their domains over.
Yes. We use it to do it just through app registrations and enterprise applications. So yes, we use it for that single sign on piece.
I don't know if we have any on-prem apps per se connected to Entra ID. We have a couple of servers and things like that, but they're closed loop, so for the most part it's all just SaaS applications, so Zoom and basic stuff that run the small and medium business space.
Not necessarily. Most of them, once we get them past the, "Hey, you need an authenticated to log in" portion, it's pretty seamless.
