There is no complaint from our users, despite they are in WFA environment, it is easier for them to manage their needs via our servicedesk as our users know there are several groups that can access certain resources and there are groups that are not allowed to, with enforcing approvals, this access management is easier for the team

Yes, the end user experience changes to much satisfiable extent in different applications with the deployment of Entra ID. It is even helpful in integration different third party applications through the usage of single sign on feature to those apps. This can happen with the exchange of metadata between different applications.

During the deployment of Entra ID we noticed that end users are much more receptive to the application SSO portal than originally thought. They enjoy portal that allows usage of all relevant applications with one username and password. Productivity has been up for IT staff and end users as password reset and account issue tickets decline.

There have been some changes since they moved from Azure AD. There are inconsistencies in the interface from what we were originally familiar with in Azure AD. Microsoft has changed the location of several items and we have been overall disappointed with the transition and functionality of Entra ID all together.

It is difficult for me to compare Microsoft Entra ID to any other IDP because I have been working with Microsoft Entra ID only from the past 3 years. Although, I have seen it evolved and simplify user experience of its own through this time. With the addition of MFA, SSPR, conditional access, PIM, SSO and many other features, Microsoft has always been focused on improving and securing the user experience.

Microsoft Entra ID has significantly improved the user experience, allowing easy and secure access to business systems. By leveraging biometric and multi-factor authentication (MFA), users can enjoy a seamless and secure login process. The convenience of facial recognition and fingerprint scanning has streamlined authentication, while self-service options let users manage their authentication methods, leading to improved satisfaction and productivity.

It’s transparent for the End user, I remember when we switched from full on prem to hybrid, there was no change at all for the end user as most of the added functionality is in the cloud, the only impact I’ve seen is when a user gets blocked due to an external source trying to access their account or a login requiring MFA due to suspicious activity.

The ability to use single sign-on between SaaS applications has improved our end-user experience. This will gain in popularity as more non-Microsoft applications add support for Entra ID. In addition, enforcing multifactor authentication, which could be daunting for end-users, was a simple process for both admins and users and went very smoothly.

You will have to "teach" users to get used to the new login page, as they will be moved from their classic login screen to the Entra ID login page, so if you don't tell them, it will be weird for them.
Also, if you didn't have it before, multi factor auth is a plus, but it should be also showed to the users before taking it to a productive enviroment. Anyhow, you'll get calls from people that are unable to login, but added security features make it worth.

Entra ID a simple overview

Easier to change user passwords, was a hassle when we had only physical servers and they could only change a password if connected to the VPN. Multifactor authentication is native and doesn't require any 3rd party apps to run. Can centrally deploy and manage software on user devices, making patching easier for all involved.

Since enabling Microsoft Entra ID with passwordless phone sign-on and PIN or biometric for endpoints, users now forget their passwords often. Not a big deal since they can change it using self service password reset but something to keep in mind.

For my purposes this is part of our logon design. Eventually we will stop expiring passwords and turn up the complexity even higher than it already is. Since the password will be seldom used, it will not impact user experience too much.

At the time of implementation of Entra ID for authentication and authorization for the end users the transition was transparent other than when we implemented multi factor authentication and registered each user to Microsoft multi factor authentication portal. which was different for users at first, but later on users were accustomed to this and later option highly improved our security as well.

Our staff and users have become far more secure and confident using our system. We have had far fewer issues with access problems and password issues. Setting up MFA for users could be a bit better but given what it does the process is well worth the slight hassle it is for users the one time they need to do it.
