Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Entra ID
It really allows us to bridge our identity gap from online or from the cloud to on-prem and it allows us to use the same identity from both on-prem and the cloud and then put some access, conditional access policies, governance and things like that against the use of identity.
Pros
- I think it integrates really well to other SaaS applications for single sign-on. You can set policies in front of that. I think it is really good at pulling in other applications and using your existing identity solution.
Cons
- I don't have anything necessarily specific. I think one thing is it changes so fast sometimes documentation's not updated. It just seems like it rebrands a lot, so it's just always confusing sometimes. But other than that there's nothing really bad to say about it.
- I think it's had positive. It's enabled us to make authentication easier and more streamlined across the organization from frontline workers to back office workers.
- It's allowed us to really adopt authentication policies and methods that suit that user and their work environment.
Yes, we have both. We're a hybrid deployment, so we have both cloud only and on-prem only identities as well as hybrid identities.
Yes, we do. We secure Smartsheets for example. Anything that can tie in, we tie it. So I probably have 50 to 60 applications tied in for single sign-on. Which SA applications you have connected to Ninja One, for example, Smartsheets, let's see. Bitwarden for password management. That's just a few off the top of my head.
I think I'll touch on a little bit. The authentication policies and methods, we were able to really tailor what makes sense. For example, someone in a diesel shop, a mechanic typing on a keyboard all the time for their passwords, probably not the best, right? They're greasy and dirty, so going passwordless for them and ID has helped us go with that, but also provide that same functionality of someone in the back office that they wanted, but give them the ability to use other methods if they want.
